hotdog stuffed crust deep dish vegan pizza

1. use pre-made crust or make crust using this recipe: http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,2341,157183-233201,00.html

this is an incredibly easy vegan dough that doesn’t use yeast and doesn’t need time to rise. i doubled the recipe to have enough to do the stuffed crust, and added italian seasoning for flavor. sprinkle flour on your rolling surface so the dough doesn’t stick and roll out about half of the dough to desired thickness. this will be the bottom of your pizza.

2. quarter vegan hot dogs or sausages lengthwise and arrange around the outside edge of the crust. wet the crust lightly with water around the edges of the hotdogs. flatten out small balls of dough from your remaining dough ball, and cover hotdogs. pinch dough together on wetted edges until it sticks. cover hot dogs all the way around the edge of your crust. brush crust with olive oil.

3. top your pizza. since the hotdog-filled crust is pretty deep, be sure to pile it on.

4. bake for 15-20 mins at 400F. enjoy!

with crust from scratch (duh), homemade tomato sauce (double duh), sauteed kale+garlic+onions (cooked in my secret tahini-siracha sauce), topped with Daiya cheddar and almond mozzarella.  OH and did I mention the crust is stuffed with vegan hot dogs??

green bean stuffed crust pizza with basil pine nut pesto, mushrooms, and daiya jalapeño garlic havarti OR all my favorite food things on one heart shaped piece of pizza magic

I’m more than a little bit obsessed with green beans these days and as I was falling asleep a few nights ago had a vision of this very pizza. let me tell you, it was just as delicious as I had hoped it would be. I ate it dipped in allofmydaysoff’s famous homemade tomato sauce but it would probably also be delicious dipped in vegan ranch or something similarly creamy.

(I know I said I would wait until february starts before I start posting heart shaped vegan food but I just can’t wait any longer. sorry/not sorry)

Vegan pizza for dinner tonight: Artichokes, green pepper, onion, Tofurky pepperoni, spinach, and Daiya cheese on an herbed crust! This time around, I changed up the crust just to experiment. I used my usual herbed pizza crust, but this time around, I put in 1 1/2 tablespoons of nooch and 2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds into the mix. Also: DAIYA STUFFED CRUST. I was in pizza heaven tonight.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Pizza should be the official dish of veganism.

I got to the frame with the stuffed crust and moaned. Seriously.
