paulie gee’s in brooklyn is celebrating vegan pizza day on june 30th with a pie made just for that day! let me introduce you to the paulie vee: beet greens, sliced roasted beets and post-oven cashew ricotta. …sounds absolutely divine!
i have been dying to try this place since october when our correspondent nicole went on a walking vegan pizza tour of NYC with scott’s pizza tours and described paulie gee’s as “nothing short of incredible” and her “favorite pizza” of the tour. those are bold statements! the pizzas are cooked in a wood oven in just 75 seconds, and (as you can see above) are known for their inventive and delicious toppings.
we’re thrilled to have paulie gee’s participating in vegan pizza day, so if you’re in brooklyn go check them out! i’m dying to try this beet and cashew ricotta pie.
Paulie Gee’s is the promised land of pizza.
Seriously.
Here is my advice for dining at Paulie Gee’s:
- Go at 6PM. It will already be busy but you won’t have to wait for a table.
- Wash your hands, because the sinks are fun and they have Mrs Meyer’s soap.
- If you order the salad and you’re vegan, ask for cheese off. It’s rough to pick out.
- Order a beer, because there’s a great selection on tap.
- Talk to the cute older man owner, because his face will light up when you detail how glorious his pizza is.
- Eat a whole pizza to your face, because you deserve it.
- Tip well, because you’ll be coming again immediately if not sooner.
Mine, pictured above, had homemade vegan sausage (delicious) and homemade cashew cheese (glorious) with arugula and mushrooms. The only don’t is getting extra mushrooms because they literally put four mushrooms on my pizza. It was so amazing though I didn’t even care.
Paulie Gee’s is easily accessible by boat! Take the East River Ferry to India street in Greenpoint. The G is also pretty close but I don’t like the G so I won’t give you directions. Then walk to the Lorimer St L after dining, because you’ll need to walk a little after noshing.
iaccidentallythepatriarchy asked: So I'm going to New York City pretty soon, and I'm not used to having a lot of vegan food options, so I'm super excited. What places do you recommend for good vegan pizza over there?
I haven’t been - at least not since going vegan - but people seem to love Vinnie’s Pizzeria (Brooklyn), Cafe Viva Herbal Pizzeria (East Village), and Paulie Gee’s (also Brooklyn). Also, Slice is delish, though I’ve only ever tasted their leftovers.
What about the pizza gallery? Thoughts? Opinions? Points of discussion?
Picked up some pizza from Paulie Gee’s last night with Kami because our first choice, Tony’s was out of Daiya. This was the In Ricotta Da Vegan. The arugula was a bit much and hid a lot of the flavor, but the seitan sausage and the rest of the pizza were awesome.
I need more pizza in my life.

This is the Simply Red with Daiya from Paulie Gee’s in Greenpoint. Tony’s was out of vegan cheese tonight. (CRIMINAL!)
It’s a great crust and nice sauce, when you’re having a fancy pizza craving.

[I lovenopockyforkami’s commentary over on zher place:
They are so lucky that Marco called and not me. You’re a pizza shop that ran out of cheese? That’s bad fucking planning. What’s next? No dough? No sauce? The actual rage, of course, is that I’m sure they NEVER run out of dairy cheese.
WORD! - ed.]

Vegan Pizza at Paulie Gee’s in greenpoint Brooklyn!
Review: Vegan Schmoogula
italian tomatoes, baby arugula, olive oil and mild aleppo chili oil
add DAiya cheese for 4.
The daiya added great flavor to the pizza. I’m going to just say that the olive oil makes the pizza slightly soggy so don’t let it sit there.
one of my bf’s slices fell apart. Other than that it was a great vegan pizza for my first try. I would like to try another one of the vegan pizzas they offer. I don’t think i’ll order this one again only because i have a feeling one of the others might be perfect. It was better than my bf’s choice of pizza from the regular menu. so there.
