My second home made pizza!
… well, kind of lies here. It was my lazy pizza, but I can’t ever be as lazy as to go for frozen. I got a whole wheat crust and pre-made pizza sauce (both plant based, yes), and used very little Daiya mozzarella - the very last restaurant pizza The Husband and I had was drowning in Daiya, and we decided that this is not the thing for us.
Since I do not know how to do lazy, I did spike the pizza sauce with extra spice to give it a nice authentic Penzey Pizza Spice flavor (I love that stuff), sliced up some peppers, onions and gaaaahlic to go on top, and made my very own cashew parmesan recipe I made up off the top of my head.
Verdict - was a very good pizza, certainly better than the last 3 or 4 restaurant pizzas we’ve had (yay!), but while I am usually a fan of the vegan pre-made cheeses, I do not like them on my pizza. Just not a big fan of the Daiya mozzarella, it seems. So cheese on my future pizzas will be my own (such as the parm I made, both The Husband and I loved it, tofu or cashew ricotta, etc), or there will be no cheese.
In any case, we did eat this whole pizza because… well, it was still all sorts of delicious. Cooked wonderfully on my Lodge Pizza Pan… I’m all sorts of hooked on cast iron cooking at this point. And, as pointed out, my cashew parm was the mad note. Fresh veg was very, very tasty. Go me!
Look for the next one, I’ll be making my own crust and sauce again, and be less lazy. :)
Homemade vegan parm for the win!
Nifty Pizza #11 - HAWAII!
Don’t have time or money to travel to Hawaii this summer? NO PROBLEM! This tropical vegan pie should do the trick. We took the traditional “hawaiian pizza”, made it completely vegan, and added some extra ingredients to take it to the next level! It’s pretty amazing!
Topped with pineapple, vegan ham, green peppers, pepperocinis, daiya mozarella, vegan parm, dried basil, and marjoram. Recipe here!
[This pizza looks delish, but I still wanna go to Hawaii! Someone take me please? - ed.]
A batch of the vegan parmesan from Lane Gold’s Vegan Junk Food. Just combine some nooch, walnuts, and olive olive in a food processor and pulse until chopped and blended. Put it on a pizza! Simple and delish!

Nifty Pizza #9 - Florida
Nifty Pizza #9 - Florida! The Sunshine State! (I can’t believe we’ve made it all the way to Florida. It must mean we really love pizza…)
Topped with crispy filets o’ tofu, sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, Florida oranges, vegan parmesean cheese and fresh arugula.

Nifty Pizza #8 - Delaware
Nifty Pizza #8 — Delaware!
This coastal pie features vegan crab cakes (made from tempeh) with a psychadelic swirl of remoulade sauce and plenty of old bay seasoning. Other toppings include pizza sauce, tomatoes, and vegan parm! A seafood inspired pizza for Delaware!

You guys! Allow me to introduce you to the Baked Ziti Pizza from Lane Gold’s Vegan Junk Food, minus the ricotta. (We were fresh outta tofu, doh!) Super-yummy and probably easier to make than my own version.
But eating it? Every bit as messy! Next time I think I’ll try it with a more bite-sized pasta; elbows, maybe?
Vegan Eggplant Parmesan Pizza, with mozzarella Daiya and do it yourself vegan Parmesan cheese. (The secret ingredients? Nutritional yeast and ground walnuts.) ‘twas super delish, even with the wonky crust. (Yesterday was the one day in a hundred when the dough wouldn’t rise. Boo! Hiss! Boo!)
Recipes from Lane Gold’s Vegan Junk Food, which I love love love, and not just because I scored a free copy. (Two words: Sausage Gravy. Check and mate.)
Vegan Chicago Style Deep Dish.

This is the traditional cheese on the bottom, thick cornmeal dusted crust, bubbling hot garlicy tomato sauce, slightly charred Parmesan cheese topped, spinach pizza from which all deep dish pizzas descend from. Made with of Kaas Soy Mozzarella and Galaxy Vegan Parmesan this pizza has evolved. It is as close as one can get to the Traditional Chicago Style Pizza without being in the Windy City, of course finding a vegan version in “The Hog Butcher to The World” is close to impossible. This one was made on Vashon Island, WA and was made to cheer up my sweetheart who was having a bad day.
[That is one giant pizza, James! I don’t suppose you need some help eating it, hmmm? - ed.]
My wife was confused by my proposed rosé sauce for our final pizza, but in the end she says it was her favorite! I’m calling it a vegan primavera pizza.

We made the rosé sauce by mixing together plain tofutti better than cream cheese with our roasted red pepper tomato sauce and some extra garlic. It was so good we kept the extra and to dip our crusts in. Yum! We topped it with oven-roasted red peppers, sautéed broccoli and vegan parm.

Canadian pizza deliciousness.

[…for the recipe, that is! - ed.]

[Oh no, forgot my location the first time!]
I’m entering for the US giveaway!
Not the prettiest pie, but so delicious! I used the easy Bisquick dough recipe from perfectpizzapress.com and topped with chunky vegetable red sauce, tomatoes, peppers, soy crumbles, spinach, oregano, and vegan parm. Happy Pizza [every]Day!
[Thanks Andie, and happy pizza everyday to you too! - ed.]

reblogged from compassionpassion:
Thanks to having to take Imitrex for a migraine, I was knocked out tired all day and too sleepy to cook. So Jason went and picked us up some pizza from the Italian restaurant right near us. I got mine cheeseless, with just mushroom, then added Follow Your Heart mozzarella, seitan, and Soymage parmesan and heated it back up. Not *quite* as good as when I make it myself but pretty yummy. =)
Veganized takeout pizza FTW!
KT at Veg-Burgers continues her Fifty Nifty United Pizzas of America tour with a stop in Arizona! This spicy southwestern pie is topped with Enchilada Sauce, Fajita Veggies, Jalapenos, Olives, and Daiya Cheddar. NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART! OR MOUTH! (i.e., me!) Click on through for the recipe. Or should I say recipes plural, since there’s also one for diy enchilada sauce. Nice!
(Thanks again, KT. Third time’s the charm!)
