fuck yeah vegan pizza

VeganMofo 2012 - Pizza Break

reblogged from bklynheart:

I seem to not have very good luck getting back to my themed posts (in which all of the books I have not cooked from yet get cooked from).  Many a book continues to languish while I continue to have technical difficulties, including a recipe I did where I modified in the most poor and atrocious way so I must now remedy this situation to give the book the fair shot it deserves.

As to not leave the blog empty tonight, a tribute to my favoritest of all favorite foods…  Pizza!  A few I have had recently:

A slice from Lean Crust in Brooklyn NY.  Literally went to the first random Brooklyn pizzeria that advertised vegan slices purely as a litmus test.  Not even the kind of slice I’d normally go for (The Husband calls this a garbage pie for the amount of toppings on it, including olives, pineapple, artichoke, dia cheese, peppers, etc…).  The crust was even gluten free.  One bite proved it… Brooklyn has the best pizza, including vegan.

This was a treat from Vinnie’s in Brooklyn, NY.  The slice was right!  This had elbows, soy crumbles, Daiya (just enough, not too much), hot sauce… and the crust was heavenly!

This pizza is from Barley’s Taproom & Pizzeria in Asheville, NC, and it was a game changer.  While I still maintain the very best pizza can be found in Brooklyn, that doesn’t mean you can’t find good pizza elsewhere.  This would be the very best pizza I’ve had outside of NY, and probably the furthest point from NY where I’ve had a slice of pizza.  I blame the beer mash in the crust… or possibly the pesto.

Must not forget fabulous pizza in my own backyard, such as Fresca on Addison.  Cookie cracker crust, fresh toppings and the best desert pizza I’ve ever had!  Like after the pizza desert, after the pizza…  and I don’t have to travel so far to get there!

Hope to be back on track with the cooking tomorrow.  No more crazy mods for me!  I know that’s a lie, but I like to dream!

Eff Yea Vegan Pizza!!!

Second Submission From Canada!

Since you were having a contest and all I decided to make MORE VEGAN PIZZA.  This one is a kamut flour crust, topped with spinach, mushrooms, diced tomatoes and daiya mozzarella… I sprinkled a few jalapenos on top because that’s how I roll.

Love from the Great White North Canada!

[You can never have too many vegan pizzas, amirite ppl?!? Also, this one?

Looking good! From sans faire rien! - ed.]
